What were they thinking? Is there anything about this that is appealing?
The first thing we did after purchasing this beauty, was remove the hideous velour curtain panels. Then I gave the plastic walls (it's a trailer...fake wood and plastic are a requirement) a coat of primer, and two coats of fresh lime green paint to brighten up the space.
Mark used bamboo flooring planks to make a new table top (I prefer the warmth of wood vs. cold laminate) and he hid the folding metal table leg with a bamboo stalk.
Three different fabrics (a tropical barkcloth, a fun stripe, and a patterned yellow) were purchased to make curtains and re-upholster the banquette and the sofa (which I always leave set up as the bed).
We hung the curtains from stalks of bamboo.
The etched mirrors in the upper cabinets were removed and replaced with woven grass mats to tie in with the tropical decor.
Bamboo cabinet pulls replaced the tacky metal pulls.
We removed the fake oak refrigerator door panel so I could spray it with chalkboard paint...an easy fix that leaves a handy spot for note taking and daily quotes...plus black is better than oak.

I like it so much better now! A good thing since we lived in this tiny space for almost four months while we were remodeling the house. We use it now for private guest accommodations.
