Why?

Why would anyone put an electrical panel box in the dining room?
I haven't figured out how to hide this yet. It's off-center, so I'm going to need something at least 30" wide and 40" high.
Any suggestions?
I'm thinking about a kilim (Kilims are flat tapestry-woven carpets or rugs produced from the Balkans to Pakistan. Kilims can be purely decorative or can function as prayer rugs.)

I have one behind my bedroom door. We covered it with a large colorful mirror from Pier1. Took some rigging because the panel isn't flush. Hopefully we don't need access to it all that often. Maybe a nice art quilt or small kilim with a headrail would work too?

I have a suggestion! I just bought large blank canvases and fabric that I loved. All you do is staple the fabric nice and tight over the canvas and you have lovely artwork! I have pictures of the smaller version on my blog..... Hope this helps!

My #1 idea so far is a small kilim....I like the idea of something soft, rather than something framed....

You could put a picture there or maybe make a little door for it painted the same color as the wall.

lol. They have a big panel in our daughter's room to get to pipes in the wall, and we have no water cut off valves in the whole house. I feel your pain.

i vote for the kilim as well. i think that would work perfect there!!

That IS rather odd! Hmmm put a painting over it :D But in case you DO need to use it, it needs to be easily removable... umm.. I second that idea with the canvas and fabric, but perhaps use a canvas material as a backdrop for the fabric, but not painting canvas (no wood frame)? Make it into a tapestry or wall hanging of sorts - so if the lights go off and you need to flip a switch, you can flip up the canvas easily instead of struggling to move it?

And um, what's a kilim? I am un-enlightened! Enlighten me please! :) It's a new word to me..

a kilim is a rug, to put it simply
think old, persian, cool, tribal
along those lines

and thanks Joy....Iris=Braeda....mystery solved!

For that location, I'd cover it up with some fiber art - either a long narrow weaving or a custom quilt piece. Fiber art would be easy to move aside, without taking it down, when you actually need to reach the box.

ryc- Yes! I did demo in Canada over 8 years ago, when I was pregnant with my first child. I was at the Flagstaff conference. I had my 2nd child on the Thursday of the Wisconsin conference, so I didn't attend at all, even though my hubby was the conference chairman.

Oh yes, a kilim would be good!

I've found good prices on small kilims on ebay- but IKEA has some good ones, too if you're looking for a really inexpensive fix.

I *heart* kilims!

Michelle...I've been looking on ebay...I'll look again....I'd prefer something old
also came across some salt bags which are pretty cool, but all too small (so far)
searching.....

You could always hang a piece of framed artwork over the top that is big enough to center on the wall, and cover the panel?
Good luck hun.

GREAT idea for the panel. I have the same problem. Maybe I can find a nice little something that I like to cover it.
your remodel is coming along very nicely!(jealous here)
