Desert

Oregon is mostly known for being very wet. It rains a lot which means it's very green...on the other side of the mountain...where I lived for 40 years. Central Oregon is something else entirely. It takes some getting used to...a dry, brown, rocky climate is not where I ever imagined myself living. Part of the problem may be the conception of what the desert is...based on its definition:
desert, noun. a region so arid that it supports only sparse vegetation or none at all.
But there is beauty here...

Crooked River Canyon

Those falls look awesome!
It's true that you don't think about there being falls near the desert. But where would the grand canyon be without water?

wonderful pictures. I love Pacific Northwest. My goal is to move to Spokane Washington or Coeur D'Alene Idaho. I love the high desert and mountains. You are very fortunate to live in such a beautiful area of the country.

Would never think of this as desert either but certainly falls into the definition. These shots are all so beautiful!

When I lived in Spokane, and we would travel to other places, people thought it 'rained' a lot in Spokane... but no, that was Seattle... the other side of the Mountains. LOL. I never could figure out why WA was called the 'Evergreen State' when that was really only a fraction of the truth... Strange but true, the influences places can have on people...
;)
So glad you are able to find beauty in your new desert land...
