OMG I LOVE these!!! I know it's a looooooooong shot, being your great grandfather's and all, but if you're ever considering selling, you contact me pronto! These are an awesome thing to have. Do you have the whole set? What's the difference between the opponents? Smooth vs. tiered?

Those are so lovely! How wonderful that you have them!

Michelle...you are simply NOT getting them :-)

The opponents are dark stained.
I have the entire set. One light stained rook was missing, and Mark's father, who is simply an amazing wood carver, made me another one.

Wow these are beautiful. I found it so interesting going through your site.

I have a blog too and I give away cheap prizes for whoever wins the weekly drawing. If you're interested read more from my blog, if you're not, that's fine, keep blogging!

I love these photos of yours. (oh, the piece on the bottom is a leather glove like falconers use) My photography is lacking.

Seriously, these are a wonderful thing to have. Lucky you for getting them. I'd love to see the whole set someday!
