Open door

"Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn't know you left open." ~ John Barrymore

A few things that have made me happy in the last few days:
Finding this photo on the news...which is just plain silly, not tragic or sad like news so often can be

Receiving an e-mail last night from Chelsea at Eighty 8 Words informing me that my Haiku entry was the contest winner for this Steampunk necklace from Mad Art Jewelry

Watching Mark and Cammie contemplate the latest fascinating cat toy: a poker chip

Any happiness sneak in on you lately?

Oh, my! I would've been scared to death on top of those poles. But, their costumes are FANTASTIC!

Hmmm. Happiness. I found great joy in a little runaway mushroom that is growing in my organic soil seed flats. I find him so cute and adorable. The most perfect little mushroom

My daughter's joy at having her mural design being selected for 1 of the 4 walls for a wooden house, in the school's playground. She is so happy & so are we!

The happiness sneaking up on me was the appearance of my lawn from underneath the mounds of snow left by Mr. Winter.

I never thought I would be looking forward to mowing the lawn.

Walking outside after the day at work with a glass of wine in one hand and a weed digger in another and the site of many yellow dandelions waiting to be plucked from the sweet damp earth.

Yay for your win! It's so perfect for you!

very cool. YAY for winning contests!

Happiness---I'm still buzzing about my student loan being forgiven...that was last week, but an awesome surprise.

You are not going to believe this, but I had a cat that looks exactly like yours. her name was irma and she matched the 70's shag carpeting in our house in California.
You won that necklace? You are a lucky lady I tell you what!
happiness is seeing my garden plants growing bigger by the day!

Wonderful pictures, and I love MadArt's jewlery--congratulations.

Today is my 20th anniversary! I guess it didn't exactly sneak up on me, but we're still happy.

I love that first picture.

Yesterday Weapon X and his kitty girlfriend staked out the hole under my neighbours shed waiting for a mouse or rat to show their face. Rosy sat statue still and watched, whilst X fidgeted and pounced on everything that moved, from beetles to blades of grass. I had to laugh because Rosy is less than a year old and she is still a better hunter than our silly little 4 year old Weapon X. He really is an air head. I love him dearly but he is not the brightest penny in the purse of life and Jon sadly incorrectly named him. He should have been called Featherbrain X.

I love this post! And the photo of your cat gave me a giggle. I find so much happiness in just watching my cat (Lola) and pup (Maggie) chase each other around the house and all the little games they make up throughout the day. Crazy little critters!

That fist photo is amazing. It makes me miss working in theatre a little.

First summery day of the year.
My sister rang up to say that her daugher didn't have some serious learning problem after doing test.
Eating a delicious pizza that cost nothing and looked not great on outside (sad).

The idea of going up one of those poles and coming down one of those poles because someone went into me or something would make me feel very uncomfortable. Would be good fun too though. Bizarre customs too. But fun.

Congrats on winning that beautiful necklace! My little bit of happiness was Dave telling me to go get in my big chair and stay there for the day--I have the flu :/ The happiness part is he had a chick flick waiting for me on the tv :)

Happiness has been everyday this week getting to watch a bright, red, male cardinal, that we have named "Lonesome Larry", sing out for hours on end in the hopes of attracting a female. His devotion and perseverance is inspiring, and his song is lovely!

Also, I adore the top photo!

Those pole people are so cool!

I have happiness/anxiety. Today I've decided to go back to school. Scary but exciting! Let's see if I actually go through with it.

I also won a contest on etsy...post in a forum and win soap! Can't complain about that!

p.s. some of your recent comments in my blog crack me up.

what a great post! I love the dresses of the people on the poles, congratulations on winning that gorgeous necklace, and the poker chip photo is so cute! I think I am in need of a little happiness at the moment, this week has just been busy busy busy with little time to notice the small things. oh, I've thought of one, Holly did a great drawing of frog spawn and a tadpole that made me smile

Love that necklace!

But the people on poles just about gave me a heart attack. So scared of heights!

Oh phooey to Strange Fruit, can they juggle while swayin' on those poles? NO! Cute photo though (I just have a thing for juggling...)

Congrats on your winning Haiku entry. Where is it? I'd like to read it? I'm a giant fan of the little Haiku. You should write another Haiku inspired by that sweet photo of Marky Mark & His Funky Cammie Cat.

I do love the J.B. quote. I exerienced happiness at 11.13am yesterday but I didn't record it in my 'happy journal' & I've now forgotten what I was happy about...

You made me happy just reading this :~)

My cat used to play with beer bottle caps & straws and no lie played fetch by bringing them back & dropping them right in your hand.
