Abandoned

It's a little strange to be driving along in the brown desert and suddenly come upon (what I think is) white limestone.

Driving a little further and finding an abandoned mine...

and the equipment. I wasn't able to get very close due to a fence and No Trespassing signs. How's a girl suppose to take a decent picture?

I'm totally envisioning you as the woman in your banner and hopping over the fence, lasso-ing the guards and taking some pictures.

Neat stuff. How old is that truck would you say?

The trailer? 1940's maybe? Not sure...

You ignore the signs & jump the fence silly ;)

I know, I know...I'm a big wimp. The No Trespassing police might come get me!

What interesting pictures..I always wonder what kind of people worked those mines and what happened to them..

The mine looks interesting. Disused mines are normally pretty hazardous places. A guy from my school went down a mine shaft during cadet training. We weren't allowed to go near there again.

Very cool... an abandoned mine-- so scooby!
be careful for the ghosts!

This just made me think of the wild west and old abandoned mining towns...

The duel takes place at high noon and then the village is over run by the evil dude who is all over the Wanted posters in town. His horse riding minions capture the sherrif so there is no one to stop him until the good guy on the horse (always filmed from below to make him look taller) comes riding into town and convinces the town people to rise up and fight back sending him away, rejoicing in the end.

OK that might be a little carried away but your pictures are just inspiring to get to know the stories behind the structures!

A fence & a sign never kept me out of anywhere (unless the sign says tresspassers will be shot on sight lol). Jump over & get up close!

thanks for the inspiration!

Wow - great shots! Yeah, fences can be such a pain in the poop when you're trying to take a good picture eh?

Oh you Desert Diva and your rule obeying ways! The pictures are BEAUTIFUL though. There's little I like more than to explore old abandoned buildings. Next time, just bring a friend, a pad of paper, and a camera, and pretend you're writing an article for some local magazine. It's worked for my me and my friends before... Though I suppose I live in a country where land owners are much less likely to own guns.

Anyway, explore on dearest diva! You take the loveliest pictures.

Very cool! I admire your restraint in not climbing the fence, I don't think I would have been as well behaved.
"What officer? Fence? What fence? Sign? What Sign?"

remember, the fence is for your safety!

I also start wondering, why did they abandon the mine in the first place? What happened? Also strange that the things there just stay there for all those years...

Pssssssssssssst, I'm totally about to go on an adventure involving trespassing abandoned buildings! I promise I'll blog it to share with you!

Very atmospheric. There is a haunting, or should I say, haunted, quality to abandped places..you can almost, if you stand very still, feel the ghosts quivering in the air around you.

The ghosts of miners past...?

Glad you couldn't get any closer, Diva. What would we do if you fell into some air shaft or something and disappeared?! Dork.
Don't make me stop this blog and come over there!

Looks like I've got a good mix of bloggy buddies...half of you are rule obeying wimps like me, the rest...risk takers-rule breakers!

I want a press pass so that I can legally do illegal things! I'm between "jump over the fence" & "jump back in your car & drive away quickly"!
