Sweet blooms

This tiny bouquet is the first from our desert acreage.

In ten days, we will have owned this property for a year. I have gone almost an entire year without flowers.

Mostly blooming weeds with some lavender, these blooms brought me a great deal of joy.

ohh...finally, some blooms :D Is it common not to have blooms there, is it the weather? Too hot or dry? Sure looks pretty, nothing like having some flowers in the house...but how come there's no flowers growing for almost a year?
I am sure you are looking forward to plenty of blooms :D

Weeds are pretty too, even those dandelions are bright and colorful :)

So pretty on your kitchen counter! Enjoy them and happy anniversary :)

Oh and by next year you are going to have a whole room full of prettiness with your newly planted landscape :)

Peanut butter with carob chip.

I am, sadly, allergic to chocolate

M. Kate -

We have 3 species of plants that grow on our acreage year round (not
including the juniper trees) they are:

sage brush
rabbitbrush
and bitterbrush

and, of course, weeds (like tumbleweed)

The High Desert of Central Oregon is hot and dry during the summer
(100 degrees) and cold during the winter. Last year we had a week of
-5 degree weather....brrrrrrr)

Which all means that not much grows
here (or I should say, what does grow here needs to be very hardy
which leaves out all the pretty flowers)

So elegant and lovely.
I long to have a garden again. Instead I go to the green market.
This week it was peonies.
I agree, I couldn't live without flowers.

There's something so lovely and symbolic about those flowers...you created them out of nothing. Enjoy them@

I always think of a weed as something you don't *want* growing? How could you not want those pretty flowers growing? Definitely not weeds! And a lovely wildflower bouquet to boot!
