Bike riding in the 'hood

“Every time I see an adult on a bicycle, I no longer despair for the future of the human race.”

~ H. G. Wells

Yesterday morning we decided to take our bikes for a spin around the neighborhood. (Interesting side note: we live in one of the largest subdivisions in Oregon...doesn't look like suburbia, does it?)

We set off about 7:30, intending to ride to the mail box which is located 2.5 miles from our house....no it is NOT at all convenient! Pretty ride though...peeks of the mountains along the way:

Had to abort the mission half way to the mail box...my handle bars decided to come loose! Ended up walking the bike home. But one does notice more at this slow pace...I've never seen the mountain here while driving by...

Turning off the pavement onto our gravel (ok....dirt) road:

Home! Can you see the house nestled back in the trees? This is our place.

What great shots..Have to admit, you were quite adventuresome, 2 1/2 miles to the mailbox..whew, tired just thinking about it..sorry the handlebars got loose..Have to admit, I would have made a graceful exit on that trip and happy they did..

Be careful with those bicycle handle bars. LOL
Wow...your trip to the mailbox would make getting Etsy packages exciting!

Boy, do I envy you!!! What a gorgeous place to wake up to every day. My son was adopted from Oregon, and it is one of our favorite states. We loved visiting Cannon Beach, Portland and Mount Hood.

Great photos! Wasn't the weather gorgeous yesterday! We could actually see the mountains--are the fires out in Cali?

Oh my...gorgeous shots! And I love how you have all of this earth around you rather than pavement and power lines. A bike ride is probably one of the most refreshing parts of your day! Thanks for sharing.

AMAZING!
Your surroundings are magnificent! I do believe you are living in a movie set! How DO you ever get the smile of simplicity and nature's beauty off your face???

Boy, you sure do live "out there". I'd probably be more inspired to hop on my bike if that was my view.

Well, well, well, I must admit that I was starting to feel a wee bit jealous but then I remembered that on Wednesday we will all be leaving for Dorset where we will be camping for a week. So, the beautiful English countryside awaits me and my tribe. Still, your shots are pretty amazing.

Greetings from London.

2 1/2 miles to your mailbox!?! That equals two laps around our whole development! Very pretty trek you have, though!

Oh c'mon! Confess! Hubby was riding the bike & doubling you & you were bouncing around on the handlebars with such giddy delight that you broke them!

2.5 miles to the letter box? Geez! That would drive my poor dog nuts having to run 2.5 miles just to bark at the postie!

Okay, sign me up! I want that... except on this side of the mountains...

*Sigh* I'm sure our next place will be a fixer too, but that's because we hope to find the most house and the most property for the money. Oy!!

You two have done such an amazing job! And so well deserved!
