Road trip, part 1

Our road trip to the coast...leaving Central Oregon's High Desert: juniper trees and sage brush...

Ponderosa pine trees before the mountain pass to the Willamette Valley

A lovely break at Mark's sister's farm in Mt. Angel where we stayed for two nights

On the road again, this time in the coastal mountain range. The wet canopy of trees lining the road has always made me feel safe. Quite a difference from Central Oregon's stubby juniper trees...

Arriving at Whalen Island, our very wet campsite along the estuary....

looks like a fun trip. I laughed a little at the rainy campsite. Our vacation camping was spent in some pretty good downpours :) It isn't fun if there isn't an adventure ;)

Have a great day!!

No matter how squishy I'm sure you had a wonderful time! Looking forward to all the photos of your adventures :) These progression pictures are great, such an amazing difference in trees alone in the same state!

What an adventure! There is something really magical about sunflower fields-- I bet there are faeries in there for sure!

I don't like camping in the rain, for one thing in the high country of Colorado, it is so dangerous because of the lightning...but then it's cold and damp, fires are harder to start, fingers freeze trying to set up tent, fishing for brook trout isn't the best...but when it clears...oh,the majesty!
Camping in Iowa...NOT!!!

Have a great vacation!

I'm glad you had a great time! I think some of your readers don't realize that us "desert rats" actually enjoy going over to the Oregon coast just to get rained on :)

Jo-

Isn't that the truth! I was so happy to see rain after last weekend's 106 degree weather.

Yippee!

I hope the weather got better! Camping in the rain...You guys weren't in a tent, right? I would have had to pack it up and head home :)
