Boo!

"Backward, turn backward,
O Time, in your flight
make me a child again
just for to-night!"

~ Elizabeth Akers Allen

Cherelle, Chantele, Cherise, Charmaine, circa 1971

"The witches fly
Across the sky,
The owls go, "Who? Who? Who?"
The black cats yowl
And green ghosts howl,
"Scary Halloween to you!"

~ Nina Willis Walter

Do you think it means anything that my mother chose the devil costume for me?

"Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble."

~ William Shakespeare

I searched Etsy for some vintage Halloween images and found the pattern my mother MUST have used to make our costumes. Too funny.

Hahaha. So cute, and check out that console and the tape deck! I was soooo jealous of my older brother for getting one of those!

Oh my goodness! My mother used the same pattern for my sister and me! No kidding! My sister was the angel and I was the witch, (apparently our two mothers had somewhat similar views of us, huh?!)

Cute photos!

Xylia...nothing like a reel to reel. Looks big and bulky now-a-days though.

Victoria...I would love to see photos!

That is awesome! Can't believe you found the pattern. You'll have to buy it and make the costumes then you can be the princess and Mark can be the devil this time around heehee. Love all the poems, I never knew that last one was Shakespeare (sadly) but had heard it.

Charmaine, as usual, I love all your old pictures..they are a treasure and great. My kids would love to dress up for Halloween, its celebrated on a very small scale unfortunately. I wished it would be as much fun here as it will be over there :D

Wonderful that your mother made your costumes herself.
I also love the names she chose for you all.

Too cute. I could only WISH to have such a cool and evil costume. I was usually something very cute and sweet and not at all what I wanted to be. My bad-girl streak didn't really get very far in the future, either...
