Window seats

I've always wanted one. What an ideal spot to curl up and read a book.

Or perhaps the best use would be as a place to take a nap...

Of course, one can also use them as a hiding place...ever seen Arsenic & Old Lace?

Oh how cozy! I've got a great book, but I'd sure appreciate a spot to snuggle in and read like those!

So inspiring.... (to rip down a wall in my house and start building a spot just for me haha)

xo have a good day!

Love window seats! I've only ever lived in one house that had a big window seat. Unfortunately I was never able to enjoy the window seat because the cat claimed that space & wouldn't share. Cats can be so very cruel...

I love window seats!..so much, that I've been collecting images of them from magazines etc, for when I have my own! They look so fun to decorate.

Love the ballgown also!

I'd need a window seat with a little tray to hold my laptop. That would be nice. Remember my LR curtain dilemma? This is how I'm imagining my window with the cafe curtains. I'd like to change out the trim I have with something similar to this- and the same as my renovated upstairs.

See, this is a very inspiring post for me. We have an underused, neglected window seat in our dining room. The cover on it is from who-knows-how-many owners ago and doesn't match the dining room, which I plan to redo in the near future. The photo from Cottage Living is just the inspiration I need to think of how to make it a cozy-up spot! Fabric! Pillows! New curtains (really digging the cafe style ones in that picture!)

I love window seats and the refence to Arsenic and Old Lace had me laugh out loud. Ok, random funny story from my childhood: In 9th grade we were made to watch this film for an English class. There was much groaning and gnashing of teeth at the prospect of being made to watch a black and white film. We would have rather gone to the principal's office. When it was finally, over we acknowledged that it was quite possibly the greatest film ever made and even to this day, year later - YEARS - we still giggle about this movie and reference the two coolest women ever. Great film! Thanks for this trip down memory lane!!

I've always wanted one also. I remember that movie as well. My bay window is big enough for three kitties to nap in the sun.

I'm a window seat girl myself. I tuck books inside it for "quiet time" Never checked for bodies, though.

World's Dresser-
I agree about the movie being hysterical. Here's my own 9th grade speech class story. I used one of the movie scenes in a speech I gave in front of my entire class. I "tried" using different voices for each character. My Cary Grant...very impressive. *rolls eyes*

Never saw that movie but I am definitely adding it to the Netflix que right now thanks! Mmmm, a nap on a window seat in the warm sun under a cozy blanket sounds divine :)

I always wanted a window seat, too to gaze out and dream in. I think my interest started with Peter Pan.

I'm going to the waterfit class today but I'm going to take it easy this time. No more trying to keep up with everybody else!

My grandmother had a window seat, and we always read, chat and ate there. It truly is an art to make if not just visually appealing, but also a place you want to kick back in.

We had a wonderful window seat in our dear old bungalow in Kansas City 30 years ago. It even had the pull up lid like in this movie!!

Oh yes, I loooove window seats too.

Wouldn't that be great?! Admittedly, I'd probably never look up from my book, but natural light is lovely.
