Up close and personal...right outside the front door.
This little guy was eating the weeds, the doe (who is not pictured) was eating my plants...I ran her off.
“I ask people why they have deer heads on their walls. They always say because it's such a beautiful animal. There you go. I think my mother is attractive, but I have photographs of her.”

beautiful!
Great photo! You ran her off? Haha! I can picture it. And it's funny!
Love that Ellen Degeneres quote! I've never understood that whole thing with animal heads mounted on walls. Kinda freaks me out!
Oh, hello sir! Thanks for eating the weeds. You better put your wife in line and keep her out of the plants!
What a beautiful photo..It is hunting season here and I hate it. We have two does across the street. I went over to take a picture..the lighting was lousy. Had fun watching them and I think they enjoyed watching me.
Great photo. (I was about to say " Great shot" but then I thought about the irony.)
There are tons of deer where I live but I rarely see bucks.
Once married to the hunter extraordinaire, I had to endure the poor creatures hanging in my garage every season. But the sad thing is, man has taken habitat away by the gillians of acres, over population and urban sprawl have stolen feeding grounds...have you seen the new M. Night Shyamalan movie 'The Happening'...let's hope the creatures don't rebel like the plants did, or Auntie may be hanging on the wall...Ha.
Ellen is so funny!
We have many deer here, so much so, that WT has had to put wire casings around our younger trees. They gobble up everything in their path. We didn't realize how much our lab, Ralphy, kept them at bay until he died last year.
Oh, wow! What a lucky shot and so awesome! My uncle in Virginia has deer come right up to his house like that. It really is an amazing sight.
wont see them anywhere near my home for sure...That Ellen quote is soooo funny haha..I'll remember to quote that one day :D
Will be laughing at that quote all day, hilarious :)
Wow I can't believe how close they get to your house! I get excited seeing deer on the side of the highway chomping on grass, if one came this close to my window I'd probably die of excited happiness! He sure is gorgeous...hope your doe-nibbled plants are mostly intact!
What a great photo! Deer really know how to eat landscaping. When we lived in the foothills in Colorado, it was such a challenge to have a single blossom. The ones that did the REAL damage, though were the elk. They didn't just eat things, they would pull plants out, roots and all, and then they trampled everything!!! Big galumphs. I still liked seeing them, though.
Ha! You managed the best shot! Did you really chase the doe off?! Haha, you're serious about your landscaping, eh? I know you've worked hard on it!
Ha ha!!! U scare the doe off? Hmmm... I know how it feels that deers eat our plants or berries, eh?
My flowers & all the berries were off the ground during spring. They ate them all.
But, aren't they cuties? So, naive!
Have a nice day and evening ahead...
Wow, what a great shot! Sometimes we see deer in the field behind our house, but never right by the house... what a surprise, (for you and the deer!)
I think virginia is chock full o deers. at least it was...in the last coupla weeks i have seen more dead deer on the side of the roads, it's ridiculous. someone needs to teach bambi how to hold hands when he crosses the street.
sweet pic, i like that it's ALIVE! (hey got my shift button to work for a second-had to push with all my might!)
Great photo. I love Ellen's quote. I wonder if she feels the same about the new mother-in-law?
Oh my, he's a handsome devil. I say devil because he's probably eating your garden... but who could resist those eyes?
What a great show and I love seeing the small rack. When we drove through Oregon last year we came around a curve and then stood four Elk. Luckily they weren't in the road. At first I thought they were statues and had DH turn around so that I could see for sure.
the quote made me giggle. xo
How beautiful. I feel so humbled by animals. We humans think we're the be-all and end-all, but I think otherwise. I do believe that when we finally realize the depth of intelligence, wisdom, and emotional capabilities of all animals that we'll be horrified at what we've done.
You can send them our way, we have never such visitors :)
wow! I'm not surprised you didn't want the doe to eat all your new plants! What a sweetheart this one looks, especially as he was weeding for you
: )
This is one of those moments they don't teach you about in photography courses. This is nature at its most innocent. And the quote is so witty.
Thanks.
Greetings from London.
AHHHH HA HA HA!
That quote is hilarious.
On a side note, deer taste delicious. And I'm very blessed with a talented hunter who will be feeding me for cheap this whole year now!!!
Beautiful shot!
Don't ya' just love Ellen?
