Art from childhood

A post last week on Cathe Holden's blog reminded me of a plate I made in 1973 when I was six years old. Surprisingly, I still have it! (Thanks Mom!)

Penmanship...pretty good for a 6 year old
Perspective...not so good! That's a sidewalk going around the back of the house...yeah...and check out the size of those flowers!

Care to show off any of your childhood artwork?

What a wonderful job you did..Believe it or not..I use to enjoy Brenda Starr comics and would always design clothes..I think I was in 5/6th grade..One day, I may put some up..

Oh my gosh, I have these from when I was really young too! The 80s for me. I have a University of Michigan one that I made and one w/a Turkey!

Love this! I'll post my artwork on a plate when I get a chance to photograph it.

PRECIOUS!! Way to go Charmie’s mom!!!

We have an entire set of everyday dishes that look a lot like that! With 3 kids and melamine in the picture, you’re goo to go!

Are you kidding? For 6 years old this is amazing work! You were clearly drawn to nature using such big flowers like that, and obviously design with that circular driveway :) Who is that standing by the front door? I used to do the same thing with 3 windows on the front of the house but the single was at the top and always round. Love it!

Our plates are in my mother's hope chest. It's fun to open it up and take a look every now and then.

I particularly love the tree and the sidewalks. Picasso said we all are artists as children, but the struggle is to remain one as an adult! So true.

The sidewalk reminds me of a picture my cousin drew when she was six. It was of a person, and was actually pretty good...except the person's arms were coming out of the side of their head. Good work, but the positioning was a bit off.

What a sweet plate :)

I have one that my son made when he was about 6 (he's 27 now) and I still put it in a place of prominence over the holidays.....much to his dismay :)

ha! looks like the house has feet. i like it.

although i was known to hold on to all my childhood artwork, i think somewhere along the way it got lost or thrown away in various moves. my my keeps *everything*, though, so she may very well have some.

I have none, it saddens me too since I'm generally very nostalgic.

I love yours though-the nickname is super-cute. I had issue with *any* shortening of my name...funny.

Nice one Charmie!

I don't have any of my artwork from my childhood. I'm not sure that my style has changed so much from when I was a six year old anyways :)
