Urchins

"Yes, I love it. The sea is everything. It covers seven-tenths of the terrestrial globe. Its breath is pure and healthy. It is an immense desert where man is never alone for he feels life, quivering around him on every side. There is supreme tranquility. The sea does not belong to despots. On its surface iniquitous rights can still be exercised, men can fight there, devour each other there, and transport all terrestrial horrors there. But at thirty feet below its level their power ceases, their influence dies out, their might disappears.
Ah, sir, live in the bosom of the waters! There alone is independence.
There I recognise no masters! There I am free."

~ Jules Verne, 2000 Leagues Under The Sea

My sea treasure tube has been featured, thanks to Shanna Michele, in this gorgeous treasury on Etsy.

What a clever sea shell collection idea! What can be more expressive than nature's art! Beautiful composition.

I've always had a penchant for the ocean. I was born in a landlocked state. However, I broke free for a few years and lived in NYC. I would make sure that I spent at least several hours each week looking out at the ocean ... and in the summer, I spent every weekend at the shore.

Thanks for showing us ya treasure tube. :)

Loved the quote from Verne!

Despite his being an autocratic despot himself, the Captain's heart was in the right place.

I love urchins too...echinoids technically. Although the closest beach is a 5 hour drive from here, I still collect them in road cuts. Road cuts? Okay, okay, so they are fossilized!

Still love them though!
