Kettle shadow

This week's shadow photo for Hey Harriet's Shadow Shot Sunday.

During the winter I spend a lot of time next to the fire. I keep a copper kettle filled with water atop the stove to keep moisture in the dry, desert air. Cinnamon sticks and whole cloves added to the water help keep eau de Trux to a minimum.

"Nose, nose, nose, nose!
And who have thee that jolly red nose?
Cinnamon and Ginger, Nutmegs and Cloves
And that, gave me my jolly red nose."

A lovely picture, and a lovely idea. I'll have to try cinnamon sticks in the water.

Nice shadow, and great sensory image with the cinnamon and cloves. I feel like I've been sitting in your parlor.

My family and I spent a year in Tennessee, much of my time was spent sitting by a stove like this, adding water, and writing...how clever of you to spice up the water and create a cozy atmosphere.

Great Shadow Shot. Eau de Trux, indeed; we have two Cairns and fully understand.

I grew up with wood heat and we also had a copper kettle for the winter. Cool.

The composition of the kettle photo is beautiful! The color of the stove, the green on the copper... just gorgeous.

I could try some of that stewing cinnamon to bring down the wet doggie stink. Hmmmm.

Love the colours in your shadow shot! Beautiful. Your home must smell so nice! Nifty idea! Must try that in winter. Cinnamon sticks are ridiculously expensive here though, so I may need to substitute for something else :)

When we were children, in the mountains, we always wet a towel at bedtime and put it on the radiator.

M.Kate-
It's our propane stove. Actually it's black...the color is off a bit in the photo...

What a cozy shadow shot!
Cinnamon always reminds me of the Christmas-time I spent in the US when I was 13 - I always try to re-create it now, but the sub-tropical summer heat doesn't lend itself well to the aromas of cinnamon!

I love a cozy fire too! I am in Utah this minute at my brother's place suffering on the couch because he has no lovely water on his stove. I am dry, dry, dry! And scratchy, horse and parched.

I am sorry to hear that 2008 was a rough year for you emotionally. I hope 09 will be the opposite and bring much sunshine and happiness your way.

I love everything about this shot, it makes you think of warm winter days and I think I can smell bread baking. I want a wood fireplace.... Great shot, great colors.

That's an excellent idea about the Kettle, and I can't believe I completely didn't think of something so obvious my self. (I am usually CAPTAIN obvious)

I'll be humidifying my apt utilizing the Kettle Method. I loff it!!!
