Mish Mash

Ever had one of those days?

You know the ones...the days nothing goes the way it should. After seven hours of driving and running errands, I catch a glimpse of myself in my car window reflection and realize I have two different earrings on. I come home to play with the dog...lost ball (third time this week), unload the car, carry everything in, step on cat, *eye bottle of wine* continue putting away groceries and assorted purchases, take new shoes out...spend 1/2 hour trying to remove price stickers, *eye wine bottle again* give up on stickers, go to office to load new yellow printer cartridge only to find out Cyan means blue-not yellow. Sigh.

dang stickers!

On a happier note...I received my giveaway package from Round Rabbit! Yay! Thanks Nancy! What should I make with these? Any ideas besides necklace?

Then I checked blog comments, and read new posts. Have to give a shout-out to Cathe Holden who is offering free downloads on her blog. Check out my new e-mail image in the left side bar. (Cathe also designed the Thank you for visiting my blog image.)

Thanks ladies...the day ended well.

Well, you said yourself, mish-mash? Was the nice pressie the mish or the mash :-)? Yes, I have had that kind of days. I count to ten, breathe deeply and carry on (under duress, mind).

May thanks.

Greetings from London.

Make a windchime for your porch! Such pretty little tiles.

I HATE the use of stickers that are not removable. It's the ultimate slap in the face- here, buy this, bring it home, then realize your new item will look like an old crappy item. Nice. Not to mention the sticky feeling on the bottom of your foot. Real nice.

Cool shoes. Love the new blog banner, so pretty!

I'm right there with Cicada and the windchime idea...with sticks and shells and all things from your beautiful desert.

Scratchy just found her ball too, under all of the snow that slid off the roof...ha!

We tore apart Piper's(daugher) shop yesterday to move in a friends biz, to help with bills etc...what a nightmare...it will continue well into the weekend as the domino effect takes over...you know what I mean!

I'll be looking at the wine too...

Don't you HATE those horrid stickers? And they stick them right on the leather soles, too. Your new pair is one I would snatch up in a heartbeat!

But the shoes are really cute, sticker's aside. (**trys to be optimistic**)

Ooo, I like the wind chime idea! So glad you like them - so sorry I kind of forgot about them. ;)

If the porcelain is sturdy enough, a single would make a great keychain.

The good thing about absurdly bad days is that at some point, you just have to laugh...if not from exasperation, than at least in a half-ditch attempt to spite the gods that you're sure are laughing at you.

Glad it ended well and I hope by now you have had a couple of glasses of that wine you were eyeing, xv.

If I were asked to give what I consider the single most useful bit of advice for all humanity, it would be this: Expect trouble as an inevitable part of life, and when it comes, hold your head high. Look it squarely in the eye, and say, "I will be bigger than you. You cannot defeat me. He!He!He!.
Wishing you well

I say you open that bottle of wine...;-)

as for the beautiful porcelain pieces {i'm luv'n the colors}, how about a book thong {or two}?

LOL about the earrings. I can't tell you how many times I've done that. At least you're smiling at the end of the day!!!!

I'm with Cicada Studio- TOTALLY wind chime! Actually, I was picturing sort of a cool mobile with some light catching beads/crystals added to the mix, but a windchime is practically the same thing. Those are neat-o!

There's a bottle of wine I've been eyeing for weeks..I almost cracked it open for the Mac (I named her Juniper)

Sorry you had one of those days. I HATE that. the cure is definitely wine. And chocolate. Wait no, margaritas and hula hoops! YES!

I was going to suggest a book mark, too. There has to be something else though...

Hello, thanks so much for stopping by. I've definately had one of those days!! Have a great day, Theresa

Not only do I have days like that, sometimes it seems to turn into weeks, lol. I vote for the bottle of wine & assembling the goodies into the suggested windchime ;D (Put the shoes in the freezer for a bit & scrape the goo w/knife)

Cynthia Pittmann said...

The stickers, the dog´s ball, the cat´s tail-yikes! Did the wine bottle fall too? Sometimes when so many things go wrong, it´s frustrating...other times, you can take it in stride. I hope series of mishaps fell into the latter category.

HCVC-

The freezer, huh? Ok, I'll give that a try.

15 min. of the 1/2 hour of scraping yesterday was with a paring knife...hopefully frozen stickers is the trick.

Thanks!

Love all the ideas for the pendants...wind chime is in the lead right now...

You could make beautiful bookmarks with ribbon attached - Great birthday gifts for friends? Those are lovely pendants!

p.s. I keep a pair of earrings at work for those, shall we say, less co-ordinated days, when I turn up wearing odd ones!

Ah yes I am familiar with those days, have one more frequently than I care to admit lol. Wine helps :)

Those would make a glorious wind chime :) So pretty!

Unknown said...

Just read comments, guess my idea was not all that original lol. I agree with all windchime votes :)

T.Allen said...

I'm going to go with windchime-boy, do great minds think alike!

Drink the wine I say, drink all of it and you'll never even know the stickers are in there-nor will you care. Just put the shoes on and dance your cares away. *Cammie find a perch stat*

Oh,those kind of days, where one is way more tired than after a day at work.

And those damned stickers!! If they could make a glue that worked as well! And my favorite sticker-getter-off-er, Goo Gone, would probably stain the leather, hiss growl grrr

I see you have had some good suggestions of how to use those little tiles, and may I suggest hanging them from a curtain rod, like in a bedroom or small window...they may chime with the wind, or remind you of little prayer flags...

I always carry an extra pair of earrings with me - have even forgotten to wear them and then I feel naked! Stickers drive me crazy. I almost ruined the cover of my new journal taking off a sticker. This is my first visit. I love your blog - so much to take in.

THE TRICK TO REMOVING STICKERS IS W-D 40. Sorry for not pointing that out earlier.

High Desert Diva said...

Yeah...but the insoles are suede and I'm trying not to ruin it. Goof Off works wonders, too. Just not on suede.

The freezer trick didn't work either.

RocketScienceShop said...

Those pendants are *fabulous* I love them!

Victoria said...

I think the tiles would make gorgeous jewelry pieces. Try zapping the shoe stickers with a hot hairdryer, it helps to soften the glue. And if that doesn't work, just have another glass of wine!

Unknown said...

Mismatched earrings doesnt sound so bad, I once had the mismathced slippers while running out on errands and they were of different colours too. Glad the day ended well :D

Helen said...

WELL if it were me .... I would take one of the adorable pieces, and tie a little golden thread through the hole and use it to decorate the neck of the wine bottle you are now drinking from ...

Jeanne Estridge said...

There's some stuff called "Goo-Gone" that works well on stickers without spoiling leather. Likewise, Avon Skin-So-Soft.

Unknown said...

The little tiles are really cool. They would make a great necklace, just to string three or so on a cord with knots or other beads in-between. I may have to visit RoundRabbit's website.

I've had those days before. I haven't had one in a while, though. It sure does break up the monotony though!

Your blog made me laugh, i've only been up for 2 hours and today is one of those days!

Lisa's RetroStyle said...

The earring moment cracked me up:} I know I have my share of days like that.
The tiles are cool...I of course thought wind chimes too. Would make a pretty key chain fob.

I can tell you, I wouldn't have waited so long..The wine would have won out..

At least your day ended well. I even noticed the cool new email image link before I read about it. Didn't see the other one, so will go have a look. Love the red shoes! Yeah, stickers are so annoying. I hate that my fruit is always covered in 'em! Grrrr. Too hard to peel 'em off, so I just eat the stickers now.

I always have a little can of rubber cement thinner around, a holdover from my graphic arts/pasteup days. Pull up a corner of sticker and add a drop or two of thinner. It quickly peels off without any staining and evaporates instantly. Not the greenest solution but it gets the job done efficiently.

I WILL try Skin So Soft. Thanks, Jeanne!

wow! so many hv already commented & said all that I wanted to say. so I'll just say "have a good weekend, c!"

I love red shoes and your new ones are just gorgeous (even with the yukky sticky still on them!)

yeah..what it *up* with those days??? it's just one thing after the next.

(i must confess that i laughed at the image of the cat being stepped on. poor kitty)

it's always good to receive nice gifts that make up for it all. :-)

Loved this post. And I adore those shoes. Great color! I agree with the stickers, too. They are ridiculous. I bought a nice pair of shoes at Marshall's and it took me forever to get the tag off.
