This is an antique advertising plate from the turn of the (last) century.
The words next to the Saint Bernard's face say:

(I have a hound dog plate, too...I love them!)

I love dog plates, don't find them very often, I pick up funky stuff with the wild terriers on them, such sweet lil'faces(whatever)!
Guess I better git to posting, I slept in, course I didn't hit the hay till 1:30...not good!
I don't think I've ever seen a dog plate....I'd love an Airedale one!
Growing up, I had a dog named Friend who was half St. Bernard and half bassett hound - my sister's dog was half German Shepherd and half coyote. The two dogs were inseparable, as were we.
I didn't get my cards together - had a surprise visit from a childhood friend, so my day took a decidedly different (but delightful) turn from what I'd planned.
GW-
I would love to see a picture of Friend! What a mix!
Our next door neighbors have a St. Bernard named Shamrock. Big as a house and as sweet as candy. Great colors on your plate, and the tall clock next to it is fab!
My favorite part of shadow shooting is the hunt. I love how shadows are all around us and we just walk by them without noticing. This is really a great shot. Love the doggie too!
Your shelf shadows are interesting. I like your St.Bernard very much. They are sweet dogs.
*Uses Jedi pet adoption stare on Mark* (I think I'm losing my mojo though)
Great shadows, I haven't seen any dog plates in my thrift expeditions, they're kinda fun.
Cool photo! What a neat advertising plate...I don't think I've ever seen one like it!
Here's a link that shows the other plate, too.

Your MLK quote brings to mind Plato -- that humans live in a cave, seeing only the shadow of reality.
Love the dog plates!
I don't imagine a real St. Bernard would like the desert heat, but this one looks fine.
What a great plate - makes a fun shadow!
Interesting shelf shadows and fantastic quote.
My, what a handsome looking dog. I haven't come across any antique advertising plates (maybe we don't have them in Australia), but what a great way to promote your business.
When I was a child, I dreamed of having a St. Bernard. There's nothing subtle about that face; it's all doggy love!
Fun plate! And interesting shadows. I think I'd like to join the Shadow Shot Sunday efforts. It will make me look around more often and see what I know I take for granted.
Thanks,
Kate
Love dogs but both me & hubby are asthmatic of fur, that's a shame we can't have pets.
My cousin have a dalmatian & cocker spaniel. They're adorable. But I never seen a dogplate, yet.
Your SS is just stunning.
ENjoy your w/end!
Cool plate & I love the colours in your shadow shot!
Wonderful MLK quote also!
I have collectors plates from the Union Pacific Dining cars that used to run in the 60's and 70's!
I love them, I also have a silver coffee set. I should take a picture of them.
Oh ... that's right, I don't have a bloody camera!!!
I love the layout of this picture...very interesting textures and colors that have been combined!
Thanks for stopping by! xo....deb (junkin yaya)
Interesting shadows--we had a St. Bernard growing up-Hudson was his name.
Very artistic shadow shot. Beautiful!
What a cool shadow, we hardly have St Bernard dogs here.
Wonderful plate and shadow..Years ago we had a St.Bernard, Archie was his name..Happy SSS..
Thanks for sharing!
Interesting shadows ... very kewl doggie plate ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
