I picture myself as a stylish desert dweller...a chic hat and scarf and I'm set for Central Oregon's High Desert winter weather.
The truth is, until I received this hat as a gift, braving the outdoors on my twice daily walks with Trux have left my ears feeling like popsicles. I've tried scarves wrapped around my head, ear muffs, stocking hats pulled low, neck warmers pulled high and combinations of all of them.
Practicality is winning out.
Being warm is more important than looking good, right?
Right?
Elmer Fudd replaces Coco Chanel.
Sigh.

Now that hat is a warm looking one..
Have to admit, I have a hard time with hats..and yes, my ears do freeze..and it is my own fault.
Beautiful candlestick holder - congratulations Country Girl! Love the hat - nothing feels better than being warm -
When I got my divorce, my husband got custody of the rabbit fur Elmer Fud hat...life is sooooo not fair!
Love the hat!

Oh wow ... I wish I had an awesome trailer, I really do ... I'm tired of Apartment living. I meant to say that to you earlier.
OH and ...
You're so awesome you got an award from me ... don't hate me because i loff ya!!!
William Morris used to say that all things should be useful or beautiful. It's nice when something can be both - in this case, it's beautiful to be warm!
Yes, Elmer Fudd wins out at the Manor, too, unfortunately. How did I miss this contest? Wonderful prize!!
Whew - I could use that hat right now! I don't know why I am surprised every winter when the temps dip this low down here in the South, but I am.
Elmer Fudd Rocks!
Kate
I like it! I would rather be warm and cosy than at the height of fashion anyday!
Plus...I think you look really cute in it.
sometimes i just want to eskimo kiss ya. i've been sick ... don't want to give ya anyting. :) OH WAIT ... I just did!!!
Adore the hat on you! I'm a huge hat fan, having one on more often than not (there is a blessing in a high forehead, apparently!) Even practical and silly hats count. They give such character to the person wearing them! :-)
I wear fleece from Sept through April, and I do not live in the mountains. Just Connecticut. Usually considered coastal New England. Not extreme.
There was a time when the whole thought of a hat was, "Hat?! are you kidding me, what about my hair." Now at the slightest frost, I'm bundled up and I'm more worried about my hips than my hairstyle!
You look fabulous and warm!
That hat is cool, er warm!
You are so right about ears on daily walks! I have two scarves I tie around my ears and head. Looks kind of kooky, but I don't care either!
Love the hat. The blue looks gorgeous on you!
Congrats to the winner and a very lovely candlestick indeed! Are those irises?
Darn, I missed the giveaway!!! Just trying to catch up on my blog reading. I have missed a lot! Love the last post, especially - what a powerful quote!
I find that when my ears get really cold, the best solution is a band (I have fleece ones and knitted ones) that goes around your head and covers your ears completely. Maybe not as warm as your fuzzy hat, but since it's my ears that get cold, that's what I cover. Especially nice for working out, when you need to release a bit more heat...
I used to avoid hats but nowadays I'm more for warmth and comfort than high fashion when it's freezing outside...I think you look fabulous!
Hope you're having a great week..:)
Warmth over fashion any day!
Beautiful gift on the give-a-way....
Hey! I could use a hat like that too! I hv really long hair & with winter & static.....imagine how I look each time I whip off the scarf & hat! All I need is a broomstick.
Congrats to the lucky winner!
(And I truly think you look great in your Elmer Fund hat!)
It's looks very warm...but still..I wont be visiting during this time of the year :D
Yes, the older you get the more you're into warmth and comfort.
Yes, being warm is more important than looking good. You're still way more stylish than Elmer Fudd.
Congrat to the winner of the giveway :)
Hi sweetie!
How did I miss this give away??? Where was I???? that is what I get for not taking time to visit! :)
Congrats to the winner! Have a great rest of the week yaya...xo...deb
If it keeps you warm it has to be a winner!
: )
Well, you look good and you seem to be warm :-)!
Greetings from London.
You look adorable -- blue is your color!
In this frigid weather people will be scurrying around too quickly to notice if your hat is stylish or Fudd-ish...which I do not think it is, by the way. You make Arctic Tundra look so chic!
I think your hat looks tres chic. Perhaps not as much as Ms. Chanel, but you are warmer, I'm sure!
I'm so glad I won!!
right. practicality will win out for me in cold weather any day.
The hat is very becoming! Elmer Fudd ain`t got nothing on you!
Ah hahaha! OK you in NO WAY resemble Elmer Fudd lol. Your furry trim is stylin'. Nothing wrong with being warm in this blistery crustiness! Plus its so much fun trying to guess just who is under all those layers :)
Congrats Country Girl Kate! What a wonderful gift :)
