Change of climate

Sometimes it's a shock to the senses; a two-three hour drive, and one has entered an entirely different climate, visually divergent from the colors and textures of the high desert.

Wet moss and fern growing along the roadside;
the air drips with moisture.

The colors of the minerals (?) on the cement at Foster Dam.

The other side of the dam and Foster Lake

Reflections:  sky, clouds and trees in the lake water
We ate a picnic dinner by the lake...
I adore water.

It's gonna be Monday all day right...

Love the diversity of your region, the beauty is staggering. I live on the river plain at the base of it's bluff, so my sandy dry region is totally different from my daughters', who lives on the top of the bluff, very fertile and lush.

It's all beauty!!! Have a wonderful Monday...s

Sounds like a really fun time and a perfectly peaceful location for a picnic :) The trees look like something out of Lord of the Rings, very cool!

Lovely....so glad you went.

I tried to get a party together yesterday because I'm LONGING for the foothills and mountains which are very nearby. Didn't make it but I appreciate seeing your beauty this a.m. Those mini vacations are so restorative.

It is always a pleasure to make the drive cross either pass to the Coast .... I love our ecosystems.

So pretty! A change of scenery is so good for the soul. I think that's why my soul is so puny at the moment. It keeps wanting to hide under the covers until summer. And it's not easy to tell a puny soul that it has to come out from under the covers to go to the grocery store and the post office; and to pick up the dog poop in the yard. You know what I mean?

That is one thing I have always loved about the West...the divergence of climate within relatively short distances! Beautiful photos...

Sometimes just the very sight of green can liberate secret longings for color and lushness and life. I am going mad with spring fever!

Those photos are gorgeous. I especially love the one of the dam with all the colors from mineral deposits.

We drove through Washington state on vacation a few years ago, and were astounded at how the scenery changed completely every 100 miles or so....

A picnic by the lake sounds lovely! It's funny that you adore water but live in the desert!!!

If you lived by the water you could be called 'Hell or High Water Diva' :) I'm not sure why I said that. It's kinda dumb...
