...and other random facts for a tag by Haute Country Vintage
Yep. Seventy five thousand chickens. Little chicks actually. I was visiting my friend Jeannie who lives in California with her husband...they are chicken ranchers. There are three HUGE barns behind their house...each one filled with 25,000 chicks. Jeannie & Dean had to fly to Oregon for a funeral...they ended up staying at our house, while I stayed at their house and babysat the chicks.
2. I don't want to be a chicken rancher.
3. Vertigo...a Hitchcock classic...love the film, do not like having vertigo though. Not fun.
4. I volunteered to be co-president of the local Garden Club. You would be laughing hysterically if you knew how much I dislike gardening.
5. I received another blog award from Vicki Archer. I really like this one...Excessively Diverting. Gotta love that.

25,000?
that's a lot of chicks and a lot of chick poop.
Eew, smelly. Love the Jane Austin Excessively Diverting Blog Award!
Congrats on the wickedly diverting Jane Austen award!
I could not look after that number of chickies - I would have wanted to save and adopt them all!
And I thought raising 50 chicks was a bitch...congrats on the awards!
75,000 chickens? Wow, that's a LOT! :-)
Greetings from London.
Now those are some random facts!
lol that's the best list of random things I've read lately.
chickens. I have a cousin with a chicken farm. its almost creepy. I didn't eat chicken for months after my last visit (......15 years ago)
Remember when Lucy and Ethel moved to the country and decided to raise chicks? That's all I can think about!
Holy chickens Batman lol! Wow, I have never chick-sat but would have to agree with you on #2.
Congrats on all your recent awards, you totally deserve them!!
Babysitting 75 000 chickens? I can't imagine...
That's a great award! Congrats on receiving it!
Whoa - to the 75,000 chicks and the award. As a bonafide Austen fan, that is an award to be coveted. Congratulations to you!
You are a true friend to trade your house and take that on. What a woman.
I hear ya on the vertigo. Mine is acting up just looking at that word. Living with it is not fun.
So these chicks you babysat, they were all little? Were the barns clean enough to sit and play with them? I love watching little baby animals. They are so cute!
My friends have a very humane, clean chicken ranch. But let's face it... 25,000 chicks in one barn produces an incredibly strong ammonia smell. My eyes streamed each time I entered the barn. I checked food, I checked water, I slowly walked the length of the barn to check for any little chicks in distress for one reason or another (one must move slowly otherwise they panic) I didn't linger.
Those are some of the most entertaining random facts I've read in some time :)
Fun post! Your sitting watch over a multitude of baby chicks reminds me of one of my favorite I Love Lucy episodes, where they move to the country and decide to take up chicken farming. A true hoot! Also love Vertigo, one of my favorite films, and I also sometimes suffer from vertigo, one of my least favorite things as well! Congrats on the award!
Do you think babysitting all those chicks and getting used to them had anything to do with being co-pres of the garden club? I hear it's mighty fine fertilizer!
Obviously, my brain was damaged somehow....maybe that was it!
Congrats on the new award. I love gardening, which is sad, because I'm not very good at it yet. Honestly, if it's too hot out ... I won't go out to water the plants. Plain sorry state!
Now THAT'S a lot of hot wings!
Really, what a good friend you are to watch over the chicks for friends in need.

You must have heard cheeping in your sleep for weeks!
Congrats on the award...chicken rancher? not for me either :D
At least there were no diapers involved!
Congrats on the award....
I cannot imagine a barn with 25,000 chicks in it! 25,000 potatoes, yes....chicks, no (grandpa was a potato farmer!) ; )
Eeeek! that's ALOT of chicks!! LOL Looove your random facts & congrats on the Excessively Diverting Blog Award, very well deserved!!
xoxo
That's a lot of chickens!
I had vertigo once and found an amazingly simple cure I'd never heard of before. It is an icky condition to have...but I was shocked at how easy it is to relieve.
Congrats on your award!
