Dancing

"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."

~ Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

This week's theme is Dancing

I attended the San Francisco Ballet this year on my birthday. Front row seats. Truly an amazing experience. The show was a mixed repertory; my favorite piece being Jerome Robbins' The Concert (Or, The Perils of Everybody).

It was funny. Very funny. Quite a surprise to me after watching the first two serious, classical ballets. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It sounds like a heavenly birthday present. I love the city and the atmosphere of ballet, Charmaine. May you have many more such creativity feeding events in your life.<3

I have never been to the ballet, but I took it for many years as a child and got to perform on stage. I loved it. That and tap dancing.

That Nietzsche was a smart guy - to always hear music, now that would be something. xv

You really had a whirlwind of a birthday trip! Any new info on the possible Italy trip? I've never been, but people I know who have rank Florence right at the top of favorite cities there...

Nietzsche is so interesting isn't he-so dark, but at the same time he kinda "gets it".

I'd love to see a less serious ballet, I'm sure it makes a huge difference. Glad you enjoyed yourself and as always thanks for playing along!

Nietzche's quote is wonderful- My adopted sort of daughter is in the dance world- intense and strange, you were lucky to get to see the end production...also, another world is that of the Deaf...the hearing are a strange lot!

Exquisite costuming but you KNOW I'm all about color. :)

A dear friend has a daughter who has danced ballet six days a week, four hours a day for years. She just found out she will be attending Ballet Magnificat during her summer training and is so excited. I wouldn't be surprised to see her as a Prima Ballerina one day. She is a lovely dancer and infinitely graceful. :)

I truly loved this post because I am a fan of dance and theatre photography, especially when the two merge together. I have close to 1,000 images in my screensaver and I love them all. Many thanks for this fantastic picture. Front seats? I shall envy you so much! Many thanks.

Greetings from London.

I'm not sure if my previous comment worked. It told me 'connection error' or some such thing...
