Kip's Bay decorator show house

Detail of wallpaper used for 3-D display

both images from here

Maya Romanoff wall covering company
collaborated with paper artist Jo Lynn Alcorn
to create the flowering tree in the show home's stairway.
For more info click here

Done on a much smaller scale, this would be fabulous in one's home.  Possibly as a family tree with tiny photos of family members in the center of each flower.  Scrap paper or fabric could be used in lieu of wall paper for the flowers....ideas are endless.

That's really beautiful. The killjoy in me wants to know how you would dust that"? I think I'll enjoy it here in pictures...

Fabulous and dramatic but probably too exciting for our little apartment.
However, I love to see the exotic and exciting.

It is lovely but, is it the curmudgeon in me or just the jaded old fart who is with shiborigirl...I can't help thinking, "DUST CATCHER!" Apparently, the romantic in me is dead. Probably died from dust irradication.

That magnolia wallpaper is incredible!!! I'm afraid it would get terribly dusty at WM. :P

I'm glad I'm not alone in my bah-hum-bug reaction. I have such bad allergies that my very first reaction was, "Oh no, dust disaster!!"

Very pretty however...

*shakes head at the practicality....*

Make the flowers out of fabric, make them detachable, and pop them in the washer when they get dusty

What a fantastic idea -
I already dream of a dogwood blossoms, maybe from photocopied pictures? I miss these trees so much, we had several pink ones in front of our old house in the States and wild white blooming bushes in the woods behind.

Wow! A lot of work went in to that. A few years back I made a bunch of small paper flower vines and used them to drape around mirrors and picture frames... the effect was very pretty but eventually I threw them out... you guessed it... Dust!

One of the coolest things I've ever seen -- it is the epitome of proving to faux finishers everywhere that wallpaper can have a place in our lives!! Fantastic ideas for other useful items too, love this!

Charmaine, This is a fabulous way to decorate a stairway, nice find) and your idea to do a "family tree" in one's own home is genius.
Peace, Judi

I really enjoyed all your comments about my mural...thanks for the kudos! And the comments about dust are all well taken...it's a pet peeve of mine, too! A can of pressurized air is one way to deal with it. These flowers were custom made for the space, but I am looking at product development on a larger scale and will keep the dust factor in mind. I like the idea of the family tree! Thanks again!
