As the wife of an artist blacksmith, my eye tends to gravitate towards all kinds of ironwork, particularly wrought iron. I'm always amazed when I see antique ironwork...the sheer strength required to bend iron without the use of (modern) hydraulic equipment boggles the mind.
Here's a sampling of some of the ironwork I saw in Italy...

Second photo on the far left. That's so simple and so beautiful.
Greetings from London.
So very beautiful. Have you ever seen the grave surrounds in the cemetery in Idaho City, Idaho? There is some really intricate work.
Beauty in details!
Very nice, but I like what your hubby does better :)
Lovely details, very inspiring!
I think it was William Morris who said that "things" should either be useful or beautiful - in this case the ironwork is both! Nice to have you back - you were missed!
Wow - even the cages over the windows are beautiful!
Lovely metalwork. I bet Mark loved seeing these pics, too.
Brava, ancora una volta... Great idea to share these with Mark. Glad others agreed that Mark's work is up there with these ancient masters.
Benvenuta... Siamo felice che tu sia ritornata... Baci,
Gorgeous collection of photos!
Amazing ironwork. I came to work and was surprised to see a card FIRENZE on my table..wondering who sent it to me until I read it. WOW..a big thank you, I collect these cards and they are very precious to me so I definitely love them. It must be fun hugging a JT pillow..didn't know they were sold all the way in Italy. Happy day..week, better, weekend.hugs/M
Aw, thinkin' of your man. Sweet. Plus, these make good inspiration for his future projects.
The top right is my favorite, simple and elegant! How nice of you to capture snippets for his inspiration board!
