That's My World

The High Desert of Central Oregon

From our front yard...
to a park 10 miles away
or the nearby Deschutes River
and the Crooked River
to a curving road a few miles from home
that's my world.

How is it different from yours?

A big difference. Living in the town, space is tight and we have to pay a lot for whatever little land we own. Yours are just spacious...I'll dream of having such beautiful sights nearby. Happy day :P

Charmaine...your world is so beautiful, a picture postcard, it is almost not real. To be surrounded by such beauty is such a gift - I am too and I never stop enjoying my surroundings either. Lovely pics, xv.

How different? Wow, I can't even begin to describe it. May I just begin by saying that we're surrounded by factories? I love your world. Many thanks.

Greetings from London.

How I miss the mountains of Colorado...there is nothing like living in the high country, southern Colorado's desert area was also a fave I tried to get to often...sigh...

Your world is beautiful and so different from mine. Here in Eastern Canada our mountains are rounded on top, not as peaked or pointed. We drip foliage in a multitude of shades of green everywhere. Our rivers are not so deeply wedged in canyons. My impression from your photos, is that the light is different too. Aren't differences incredible? Such beautiful variety on this little planet called Earth.
Thanks for sharing pics of your world!

Very, very different. Here in North Carolina, we swing wildly between monsoon-like rains to drought. We are surrounded by towering pines, to the extent that we don't get those vistas that you show here.

Unless we head to the Smokey Mountains, but even then, it's wide expanses of trees, with occasional breathtaking glimpses of the ancient weather-worn mountains.

That sunset shot of your yard - stunning!

Hmm... The differences are: we have tons of lakes, tons of trees, tons of mosquitoes...

Minnesota looks so flat, yet much greener compared to Oregon! Maybe much whiter in the winter too!

Like a different planet... but we share that same beautiful blue sky!

Beautiful pics of your world...especially the colorful sky. We have wide open fields here...exactly like Dances With Wolves. I do so miss the mountains!

If I travel 10 miles I can reach the Atlantic Ocean, but would have to travel considerable further to find mountains. The closest desert I know of is the Desert of Maine - in or near Freeport.

Your world has magic views at your doorstep! I have to travel long distances for pretty mountain views. And even then they are nothing quite like yours. The ocean is close by for me so I like that :)

What a gorgeous sunset! I could get used to a view like that.

Your mountains are my skyscrapers, your rivers are my roads. Polar opposite locations to be sure! I live in a concrete jungle here. Although there may not be the same natural beauty just outside my door, it is somewhat nice to have a 24 hour convenience store at the top of the street or neighbors who grill & invite us over for midnight margaritas!

The remarkable thing about that first photo is that it is actually a sunrise shot....but that view is facing west. The sky was glorious!

You have more trees.
