Visiting Santa

Clearly, this Santa was frightening...as this 40 year old photo shows.

That's two year old me having the melt-down, being consoled by my mini-dress wearing mom.

She made us all matching dresses every year at Christmas...love this color combo.

~~~~~~
A couple years later, and I was no longer scared, but this qualifies as the second most memorable Santa due to the pathetic costume. Construction paper wrapped around legs to mimic boots. C'mon....I was 4 years old and I thought it was lame. Note this year's matching dresses.
What are your most memorable Santa moments?
My mom used to make my sister and me matching dresses, too. Ric rac, heart shaped buttons, puffy sleeves - they don't make them like they used to!
Dear Lisa,
You have motivated me to go searching for old Santa photos! My mother made all of our clothes until we were teenagers and some of them were real winners ~ a few weren't ~ but we never seemed to know the difference!
There are quite a few holiday pictures of me and my sister in matching dresses floating around...I always kind of liked it actually. There used to be a holiday party that a family friend would throw when I was growing up...we'd sit around and sing Christmas carols at a certain point and "Santa" would knock on the door with presents for all of the kids (that the parents had brought earlier). I used to love it.
Not that I remember but i've been told that i scolded santa for bringing me the wrong toy once! I believe it...*sighs*
You girls are too cute. Did anyone ever protest the matching dresses?!
My sons have no interest in seeing the man in person. I'm fine with that!
Santa was no biggie, but the local department store had a talking, life-size (or larger) Rudolph set up in a darkened room. As terrified kiddies edged their way around the room, behind, thank God, a rope, Rudolph would rock back and forth, lifting his front hooves high in the air, and demand to know what you wanted for Christmas.
At that point, just to get out of that room without wetting myself.
LOVE the dresses!
Glad I'm not the only one. My mom said it was helpful if one of us got lost that we were in matching outfits. All handmade out of material that looked like curtains. I think I feel like going to the hills to sing now...
I'm afraid my favorite Santas are all the vintage style ones in images. The sitting on the lap kind were always standard issue 80s mall dudes...one could have been another could have been all of them.
