Last week, Martha Murray (a designer from Bend) and I picked through existing furnishings at Complements Home Interiors to assemble enough borrowed goods to stage a few rooms at the Design Center in Redmond.
It was a fun project and hopefully will be beneficial to many of us. The Design Center looks less like an empty warehouse, Martha and I got to show off a bit, and Patti from Complements has a secondary, temporary venue to display her furnishings.
Mark made me a curtain rod (so handy having a metal artist as a husband) so I could hang fabric behind the bed in an attempt to cover the existing (and to my eye, horrible) wall treatment. Can't tell in the photo, but I used vintage door knobs on the end of the curtain rod as finials...I wanted to mimic the circular theme found in the bedding.
All in all, a very satisfying project.

I love how you have the tie hanging out of the drawer and the wooden hanger on the drawer pull. And the book and glasses on the nightstand. I always prefer a place that looks lived in rather than perfection.
Thanks. It was important to us to try to achieve a sort of casualness so it would look slightly less staged. I notice the family room is a bit stiff. I'll be adjusting a few things the next time I'm there...
Gorgeous, you do such amazing work Charmaine, I wish we lived closer so we could work together sometime! I particularly like the whimsy of the wooden hanger dangling from the dresser, very homey touch.
