Spring rain

So much for high desert sunshine. I'm beginning to question the veracity of the Central Oregon tourism board's claim of 300 days of sunshine per year.

The dark streaks on the cedar deck?
Mildew.
I didn't know this was possible in the desert.

I'm in Grants Pass for my mom's
80th birthday, arrived yesterday and am so enjoying the cool weather and rain...makes for lovely photos and yes...mildewed decks.

They live on the Rogue River and have an osprey nest in their front yard (have had one nesting across the river for years, but believe it or not...Canada Geese are using that nest this year!)

I don't know how you do it, but you even make mildew look beautiful!

Well, I have mushrooms growing in my yard. I didn't expect THAT in the desert, either. Who knew?
