Nope! Not me....I found this in cyberspace:
For the most part, I'm a little out of it when it comes to computers. I'm old enough not to have used a computer in either grade or high school. So all my computer learning has been rather hit and miss throughout the years.
In November of 2007 I discovered Etsy. Suddenly I'm using the computer daily: I have a virtual shop, I particpate in the Forums, and I blog for God's sake. The blogging has been an eye-opener for me....I actually like it! I'm thinking a 12-step program might be in order though....
Last week, a friend from my past life found me through my blog. We reconnected through cyberspace....how weird is that? Karen is an extremely talented artist. I'm trying to convince her to open an Etsy shop of her own. Check out her great blog & leave her some Etsy encouragement! A Musements If the triptych she made (her banner art) doesn't make you bow down in reverence....nothing will.
I'll leave you with an example of Karen's writing...to tie this all in:
"Comments on blogs are the life-blood of the medium. They tell the blogger you are looking, liking, wishing for more. They encourage and give the pat on the back that can come from a relative, but is so much more honest from someone who didn't wipe your tears away when you fell and skinned your knee. Comments are like little presents to receive and open....after posting I can't wait to see if someone will respond; I've made myself visible to you, I've invited you in. What do you think? Comments are the barometer of what we are sharing, and often--if not always--with art, that means our hearts.
When someone comments, try to respond in kind. That is not to say patronizing behavior is a plus, but acknowledging someone in return, for having taken their time to comment about your work or your writing is the least you can do and takes so little time. A lot of my list of favorite places to visit has come from sites where I left a comment and was responded to warmly. They become your virtual friends and the circle just grows and grows."

Good point! Frankly I'm new to blogging and wasn't sure about the etiquette for comments. It's helpful for such things to be made fairly explicit when you're a newcomer! Thanks to both you and A Musements...
I love your Valentines find of the day! Great idea! I can't wait to see what you feature next. :)
Checked out your friend's blog. It's very nice. Thanks for sharing. Good luck in finding a sponsor for a B.A. 12 step program ;) & hey, I imagine at least there would be minimal liver damage with blogging. A fun & healthy enough addiction :)
How far back in the day was that picture from. Looks like the very early 80's to me. My college days were hand and hand with the typewriter... do they still make them now?
Beautiful post!
Wonderful post, and thanks for the link to your friends blog! Isn't it wonderful to connect with someone from the past?!
I found the picture on the internet....but my guess would be early 80's based on her hairstyle
Great post! I too have entered fully into the computer age thanks to my etsy shop and then my blog. Each baby step -- from learning to take good digital photos to copying and pasting html code -- is a victory, and I love learning new skills.
gotta say....the HTML makes my eyes glaze over
Chamaine,
Thanks for sharing what A Musemnts said and I will hurry over to her site and give her a little thank you as well. She has left some very astute comments for me as well.
JOY!
I love my new virtual friends- blogging has been an incredible adventure so far! I just want to keep pushing it further and further.
Actually, the friends aren't virtual, they're very real- I meant I love the virtual environment!
Or did I?
The word "virtual" came to mind, but maybe there's nothing virtual about it.
I'll stop now...
:)
Charmaine, What can I say? I am humbled. Thank you so much for the kindest words. The compliments mean more than you could imagine. I was feeling very 'out of the loop' yesterday, so what a sweet surprise! Your blog is a gift to the people who read it, as is obvious by all the comments you receive! I'm so glad I 'found' you; again. You are a kind, generous spirit. xoxo
Wow, if you have a blog you're computer savvy enough!
Love the old school computer picture.
Very nicely expressed ☺
And that woman looks like she knows what she's doing. Smart and sassy!
You're just on a role..I told you...you inspire me to blog more..and your friend's page is awesome : D
The first thing I have to note is that gal at the computer is using a 5-1/2" floppy (holy OLD!) lol
Karen is a wonderful writer, I will definitely check out her blog because discovering new & fun blogs is right in line with the spirit of her comments after all :)
I know! I can't believe how big that floppy is!
And talk about bad ergonomics....my back hurts just looking at that photo
We are on the same learning curve - started my blog in Novemeber too - Have to get a bit more savy with all of the links etc!!
It is a bit addictive - but I love it!
we must be a similar age. I feel that way about computers. I have learned alot from being part of etsy. nice blog.
I admit, I'm terrible about commenting. I'm incredibly introverted in the rest of my life, though, and I think that probably explains it.
My first computer was an Apple IIgs, when I was 5. I've been a tech geek since babyhood, I suppose. :D
I'm a little late to the party, but just wanted to say I love this post for more reasons than I could list!
Thanks for sharing :)
You, my friend, are the diva of blogging!
I was just telling my husband about using keypunch cards in my first computer class is college. Hilarious! Thank you for a lovely post and for sharing your friend's gorgeous blog. Thank you for visiting me!
