Frank

I bought this hand carved Saint Francis of Assisi (the patron saint of animals, birds, and the environment) statue from a vendor at an antique sale I produced years ago. I'm neither Catholic, or particularly spiritual....but I do love this piece.

Normally I display the statue with this bird carving Mark's dad made for us for our wedding...

but its beak was being repaired when I took the picture because Cammie knocked it over.

Gotta watch the cat around birds...

I'm born, raised, schooled for 12 years Catholic (today is another story). And in all that time, I never "did" saints- BUT this is a wonderful piece, period. I'd buy it too! (stinker- you got all the good stuff!)

I like your Francis of Assisi.

I have the spirituality of a jellybean, but have to admit some of those saints are kind of sweet :)

Great statue...I like that one, to, mostly because of what it stands for. Funny how you have the story of the bird carving and your cat! We can't have anything like that in our house that is "pet level"...with two cats and two St. Bernards, we have to be sure everything is out of the "tail zone." LOL.

I love that statue! I've got some buddahs and a demon and I'm not buddist or a devil worshiper. Guess we can have what appeals to us.

silly cat. I know nothing about Catholic Saints (while in Boston, during St. Anthony's Day, I had to ask some locals what in the world was going on...I think they were appaled by me.) The statue looks lovely.

I married into a Catholic family.

One year for Mother's Day, my husband's siblings decided we should all go in on a gift for their mom. She wanted a cement St. Francis statue for the yard.

I was the only one who knew what it was. The non-Catholic!

Oh, I really do like that placement of it.

Silly cats, when will they learn (most) birds have wings??

You're going to burn in hell...
"Frank" huh? Where's your manners, Miss Upity Non-Conformist Anarchy Statue Pontificator?
I'll be there with the ice water concession.
Saints alive, girlfriend....
Better hope the squirrels aren't sent to nibble your toes tonite as you sleep.
