Saying Goodbye

"It's so curious: one can resist tears and 'behave' very well in the hardest hours of grief. But then someone makes you a friendly sign behind a window, or one notices that a flower that was in bud only yesterday has suddenly blossomed, or a letter slips from a drawer... and everything collapses." ~ Colette

My sister has arrived from Michigan. Relatives are coming to town from Idaho, Alaska, California and Washington. Somehow Mark and I are going to get over the mountains today....one road is closed due to landslides....we'll find an alternative route.

Tomorrow is my grandmother's memorial.

so sorry for your loss. i hope family and friends can offer a bit of solace and most importantly share joyous memories of your grandmother as you say goodbye. i lost both of my grandmothers last year. coming across memories of them that have been locked away in my mind for many years always makes me smile and remember how much they meant to me. i hope your memories can sustain you.

How wonderful that your whole family is getting together to honour her... it's totally ok to weep and laugh, to be ok one minute and not the next. The spaces in between the crying and laughing DO get longer... I still cry for my mom, but am able to laugh a whole lot more now.
Peace be with you and your family this weekend ☺

It's so wonderful that the family will come together. What comfort. You will all share and appreciate the memories of your beloved Grandmother and she will live on thru you.

Take care on your journey.

Charmaine, I am so sorry to hear of the loss to you and your family of your grandmother. I lost track of you since you relocated, and am sorry that this is the occasion to reconnect. I hope you will be comforted by the outpouring of support for you by all of us who care about you and your feelings. She must have been a wonderful person. My sympathies to you.
Love,
Karen Otto

So sorry for your loss. At times like these there is no "correct" behavior. Just feel, remember, and heal.
