Thought I'd share a couple odd photos of my niece's drive across country. This week, she and her boyfriend left Michigan behind, heading for a new life in Portland, Oregon.
Tasha standing in front of the world's largest buffalo statue...
both she and Kevin in front of a Martian mural....
Both of these oddities were in North Dakota. I wonder what other odd things they'll come across on their way West?

Wow, that IS a big statue of a buffalo! Yay for odd tourist attractions... what would the world be without an oversized animal/piece of fruit/gumboot to have your photo taken in front of every hundred miles or so?
What a bigggg and scary buffalo!! Earthlings welcome...oh..that's us!! so funny and cute, wonder if aliens are real. If they are, I don't want to have any close encounter of whatever kind with them! But I am sure they existed in a galaxy far far away....
Bye :D
Well North Dakota needs something to make it interesting.
Had they gone thorugh South Dakota I would have recommended The Mitchell Corn Palace. (google it)
The Dakotas are wonderful for finding giant anything--prairie dogs, Indians, buffalos. Great places for touristy kitsch. Oh, and I agree with Sarah on the corn palace. Too much.
Ha! That buffalo is brilliant! Here in Australia, we have a bunch of 'big' stuff. A pineapple, banana, merino, prawn...to name just a few.
So proud. So very proud.
I enjoy pictures and these are great..It is fun to see what is out there..
These are the sort of thimgs that make road trips sooo much fun!
Ah, tis a wondrous journey. You just never know what you'll find!
Yes, odd, but they are too cute!! :)
WATCH OUT!!! Oh wait it is just a statue not a real ginormous buffalo about to eat her! That was insane!
The aliens in North Dakota surprised me, thought for sure you would say Roswell or something.
So Tasha & Kevin will be living near you then???
They're moving to Portland which is 150 miles from us (about 3 hours)
I am DYING!!!! This is my old hood! I am from ND!!! The first photo is from Jamestown, ND...the second is a lovely pizza joint called, appropriately enough "Space Aliens!" I am now missing my ma and pa so much!
Those are pretty odd things, looks like a fun trip though, i see you live in oregon, me too =D
I'd love to take a trip cross-country like that...just kinda schmoozing and stopping and taking it all in. I'm sure they're having a blast!
Oh, what a lucky girl! Looks like a great road trip!
That buffalo is really scary!
'BIG' stuff! I'd love to see our big prawn take on your big buffalo! Moving to Portland? Lucky them! I want to move there too. I've never even been there but I just know that I'd enjoy living there. I keep stumbling upon magical things that happen in Portland...
I believe that is the biggest statue I've ever seen...What a journey she is on!
