Nothing like nature in your own back yard. :) Deer are plentiful in my area of Maine, as the campus where I work is obviously a "no hunting" zone, and the deer know to go where it's safe! It's not uncommon to see them mulling about on the commons, and we've had a few get spooked and jump into buildings.
Want to borrow one of our neighborhood cougars?? LOL Our deer population has dwindled to near zero this year.....or maybe they all just wandered over to Tumalo! :)
Very good...we didn't plant deer resistant plants and have a major problem!! Come over and look at my two bucks! Scroll down a little. I set up a scarcrow and a little radio with Rush and Dr. Laura blarring!! :) It has worked.

Oh my, we suffer the same thing here! I cannot list how many times we've planted things only to find them munched on (or bitten off) the very next day by the local deer... Sigh.
I know that the deer must be aggravating to all of your work, but honestly, what a joy to wake up and see that. It's one of the reasons why Oregon is one of my most favorite places (as is No Cal). To see wildlife up close is one of the greatest joys and a stamp of God's beauty. Lucky you. Really.
Despite the eating up of plants, you've got to pinch yourself at times when you see their magnificent faces!!! I'm jealous--truly!!! (PS the fires are so sad. Big Sur is such a magical place)

It looks like your deer resistant plants are not quite functioning properly. Maybe they were switched with some deer attracting plants?
Myself, I still let the deer do all the gardening around my house.

Wow, I can not believe you are getting that smoke so far up the coast. I feel so bad for all those folks & hope the fires are extinguished soon!
Amazing how close you can get to those deer, even though they are snacking they are pretty :)
