Lauren's show

"In Broad Daylight"

September 21-October 18

Our friend, Lauren Osmolski's latest exhibit "In Broad Daylight" is currently running at the ArtsWest Gallery and Playhouse in West Seattle. Lauren has two new sculptures in forged steel, bronze, and concrete, as well as other pieces as part of this group show which also features the work of metal sculptor Chris Haddad. Additionally, Carol Schwennessen and Barbara Wilson will be showing oil paintings.

If you are anywhere near the Seattle area, go see the show. Wish we could be there!

Lauren's work takes a variety of forms...a fireplace screen

copper garden mushrooms
(These might be the perfect choice for our deer/rabbit infested garden)

and her amazing sculptures

That is the prettiest fire place screen I have ever seen. We don't even use our fireplace but I want this!

The fireplace screen is my favorite. I love metal flowers-the whole concept of a metal flower rocks my socks!

not sure what the creature is below the pic of the mushrooms, but i like it.

browsing her site, i see that she's got some very strong sculptures. it's hard to not look at and even study them

Wow her work is amazing! I really love the femininity she brings to such a masculine piece as the fireplace screen through the use of flowers & vines. the mushrooms would be a nice addition to your yard! Wish i could catch the show but that would be a really long flight :) Luck to her for success!

Very cool. I like that a woman is working in such a "manly medium" as I envision sweating and dirtiness... It's probably quite a powerful feeling to hammer and mold metal.

I too love her work, her creatures are so primordial, just stunning and full of creativity.

Thought-provoking! That was the first word that came to my mind when I saw the images. The way art should be, really. Thanks for the post.

Greetings from London.
