Trees

Tea & Honey Bread's Shutter Click & Chat: Trees

“It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.”

~ Robert Louis Stevenson

In an effort to not repeat last year's Charlie Brown Christmas tree adventure, we purchased our Forest Service tree permit in November. Last Monday, after perusing Forest Service maps, we set out to get our tree.

Hmmm...this doesn't look like a forest.

Uh oh...

the map definitely doesn't show a burn.

Whew! Trees...and snow!

Yippee!

Thought I'd throw in these letterpress tree cards, too.
I adore them.

I am a happy recipient of one of those cards! Trux looks like he's having a grand old time!

I LOVE YeeHaw's stuff. Charlie Brown Christmas trees are the best. The burnt trees might even make a good one! There was a Charming Friends episode that was similar and so cute!

how self-sufficient it is to be able to go out and chop down your own tree. i've always liked that idea.

I was very concerned when I saw the first shots of trees..Whew..We use to chop our trees down, but then we got lazy and bought a fake one..

Oh I'd love a real tree again...someday. Those cards are gorgeous! As is your tree. I'm having some difficulty finding a camera setting to capture all of the lights and assorted pretties...we'll see what I come up with.

How magical . . . to drive into a forest of snow-covered trees!

I'm just visiting from Willow's, and I wanted to tell you that the name is just figurative . . . but the fruitcake contains one bottle of rum and another of sweet red wine!

A friend of mine just told me they are selling actual Charlie Brown trees (single ornament & drooping branch & all) at Target this year. I like yours much better, so festive & I bet it smells so Christmasy in your house :) Pretty, pretty!

Your tree is absolutely glorious! Perfect. And I adore that Stephenson quote. I can't believe I've never read it. Love it.

Your tree is beautiful as is the card! Our tree is plastic--boo allergies!

I love Peanuts & I love yr funny Charlie Brown Christmas Tree Adventure. Bet it wasn't so funny at that time! We have a quite realistic-looking fake tree now. After years of being poked & pierced & having a hard time throwing out the tree after Christmas, this was the best solution. It even sheds needles each time we put it up!

Phew! Glad you found your tree. What a fun adventure. I was a little worried to begin with but it all turned out well. The tree is gorgeous.

Hey is it just me or is Trux looking a little more tubby than he was when you first introduced him to us? Could be the angle of the photo... but I'm thinking not ;D

According to the vet, Trux is about 20 pounds overweight. We've had him on a diet since we adopted him on Nov. 22nd. We've also been walking about 3 miles a day. Hopefully, he'll trim down in no time!

I absolutely LOVE your letter press cards.
The scenery around your parts is pretty awesome too.
I'm late for SSS, but I do appreciate Mr. Lizard.

Beautiful Christmas tree. I've never had a real one before. Only artificial ones. You make me want to go look for a real tree.

What a beautiful tree! I do love our little collecion of artificial ones, but it would be so nice to smell a real one again!

I love the first few pictures --- what?! I don't want one of these trees!! ha ha, at least it couldn't be a fire hazzard if it was already burned, right? :)

Beautiful tree you picked. I always go to Home Depot (*plug*), and get one grown in a tree farm. So, how does that work? Do you plant another one in its place?

High Desert Diva said...

Meka-
No, we didn't plant one in it's place...although that would be a good idea if it wasn't frozen out. We chose a tree near the road where the Forest Service grubs out small trees and brush for fire prevention. Basically, if we hadn't cut it down, the Forest Service would have.
