Today in America

We have a new president.
Change is here.

Gemini Studio

I'm feeling fairly giddy with relief
and
hope.

"We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.
But in the unlikely story that is America,
there has never been anything false about hope."

~ Barack Obama

It's a beautiful day, diva, not just for Americans, but for all of us who strive for a better society. Let's not fool ourselves, though, the hard work starts tomorrow :-).

Greetings from London.

Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never Is, but always To be blest:
The soul, uneasy and confin'd from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come.

-Alexander Pope,
An Essay on Man, Epistle I, 1733

Hi Diva, Yes, many young working boys who spent extended time on the streets did smoke, as it suppressed the appetite and helped keep them awake.

I am so grateful to take a part in this historic moment in America's history...even if that means taking photos of my television and making patriotic cookies with my sons.

This day repudiates so many negatives in our long past and recent past (racial bigotry, torture as a national policy, politics of fear). I feel like a cloud has lifted from the nation and the region I am proud to call home (DC and its suburbs). O-Ba-Ma!!

I woke up this morning to find it snowing. The world was quiet around me, and with that hush, I felt at peace. Maybe it was a portent of things to come?

Hope is a GOOD thing.

I have been a giddy, blubbering, misty yeed and joyful mess all day watching this coverage. Hope was so underrated before, it is spreading so fast and for good reason :)

I love hope...everybody should too...Hope transforms and gives us something to look forward to and sometimes a reason to live and believe in the future.

He's a beautiful man inside and out. I may be across the pond, but I feel safer in this world knowing he's in charge of the nation now.
