That is some shadow shot.
Utterly dramatic.
Broken trees are rather sad -but wonderful photo material.

The old Home and other buildings were demolished in the 1960s, to make way for the largest hospital in the VA system, which opened in the 1970s. So much of California's architectural heritage has been lost to the wrecking ball...

Too cool! Love Cat Stevens. Too bad for his fans that he decided to become Yusuf Islam.

Desert life eh, there certainly is no shortage of trees.

1973, twas a very good year! *Laughs* You can imagine my parents were huge Cat/Yusuf fans. His songwriting is unparalleled; super talented man.

Thanks for the photos....trees are so visually immediate!

Thanks also for the "broken" musical reference. That was/is one of my favorite songs and song writers!

And yes, Tameka, 1973 was a good year! ; ) I suspect for different reasons for us.....(I was a junior in high school and this song is forever linked to expectations of escaping my unhappy home).

What could surpass Cat Stevens? That intense closed eye shadowy moment you captured.
Thank you Charmaine for your kind words about my mother's death. You are both kind and brave.

I used to have a whole bunch of Cat Stevens albums, but I lost custody of them years ago.... Lovely shot of the juniper!

The beauty of trees are that as long as the root is intact, the tree will flourish...live on Juniper, live on...
