Sixth of the Sixth

A meme.

Karine tagged me to find the sixth photo in my sixth folder and share a bit about it. (Looks like we're both showing off the area where we used to live...)

This is our former backyard in Silverton, Oregon. Very green, very lush. See the corner of the potting shed? Mark built it after salvaging the boards from an old building on his sister's property. I found old, square paned windows to use to let in light.

The second photo shows the water feature Mark built and the brick patio we both worked on (after our nephew and I hauled home a half ton of used brick from the local convent that was torn down....my back was sore for days....)

Living in the desert, as we do now, is quite a change.

What a beautiful hideaway - I love all the gray toned foliage mixed with the green, aged bricks and the water feature - awesome! An oasis! You managed to make the water feature look very natural, how it curves into the patio.

Funny how we can leave beauty behind and move on to beauty beyond. I'm with ya on the sore back, finally finished after tearing my daughter's store inside out...argh...

The poem below is wonderful, was up till midnight last night playing with mine, funny how a little snow can lead to wistful thoughts.

Please stop sending it East...ha!

Very pretty. And yes, vastly different to your current location. These are funny tags. I was tagged to post the 4th photo from my 4th folder. I think that was it. I'd better check before playing along. Not that anyone would know the difference if I goofed anyway :)

Oh, yes... When you arrive to partake of my turkey chili simmering on the stove, I would ask you to do something like this in my yard.

I do not possess a Green Thumb.

Beautiful shots...

These pix from your former place are gorgeous! I love that you used the weathered wood for the shed and old bricks for the patio. Wow!

What beautiful garden! I can imagine what a change the desert climate must have been! I bet it has it's own kind of magic though... I'm sitting here looking at the snow while flipping through plant catalogs and dreaming of spring!

It is beautiful there! I love lush and green. It just looks like the perfect spot to take a book and nice cool drink and spend a few hours, (or all day!) relaxing.

It looks like something you see in those special effects high budget martial arts films where the actors are walking on water and such!

Good Lord what a beautiful garden!
Now I have the gardening itch and there is still a foot and a half of snow on the ground!

What a dream yard, Charmaine! Now you have a more wild yard dream, right? Every place has its own beauty. I had the hardest time letting go of California and embracing Puerto Rico. That yard must have been part of your creative expression at the time...it is lovely.

So pretty both the amazing landscape you & Mark created as well as the necklace Bonbon is giving away!

I do recall you having another similar rock hauling experience in this home not too long ago!

How interesting that both of us had photos from previous "home"! Thanks for joining the fun.

Yes, I think Salida looks a lot like some of the photos you've posted of your high desert. It is high desert there, too. I have found JT to be much, much drier.
