We finished the deck and ramada...this is how it looked before:
And after...
I like the curve against the straight line of the house.
Next summer, we'll put in a flagstone patio.
Spent some time looking for comfortable furniture....found an ad on Craigslist for vintage cast iron chairs. They were very comfortable and I knew the white iron would help tie in the white vinyl windows.
After I paid for the chairs, the gentleman I bought them from asked me, "Would you like to know a little history about them?" I said, sure. He told me he had purchased them from Red Button's estate.
If true, I now own a little bit of Hollywood history.
How's that for a Craigslist bargain?

The rock (volcanic?) around the curved edge is really a nice touch!
Looks amazing. All of it. Congratulations on a job well done.
Oh, how very cool...both the curve of the deck and the history on the chairs! I want my Nana's wrought iron patio set...I should let her know!
I love the old wrought iron with the back you finished. How absolutely cool they belonged to a Hollywood icon!
WHAT a difference..Glad you're back.
I'm so glad you are back Charmaine. I always looked to your blog for a little escape from my crazy life and missed you so while you were gone. I hope things are better for you. The ramada and deck turned out beautiful, along with everything you've done to your home so far.
AWESOME ramada! And what a fabulous find in those chairs. The thrill of the hunt never gets old!

The curve of the deck is a nice touch against the right angles of the house. So simple yet so elegant.
