Autumn, to me, has always seemed the perfect time for a caramel apple. (Here I am, oggling my sister Cherelle's....probably 1971.) Crisp apples picked fresh off the tree, the smell of caramel as it heats up, the sweet-tart first bite....
The soon-to-be defunct Gourmet magazine has a scrumptious red wine caramel apple recipe listed here. Mmmm...

Didn't you just love the apple on the cover?
Ooooh! That sounds like something I should make! Caramel Apples.... *drool*
I'm almost afraid to look at that link, because... well, I love cooking!
Great minds! Wine, candy, apples...I don't know it sounds too good to be true!
Happy memories, my mom use to make these for us! It's been a long time, and now my mouth is watering!
