Mark's shop

Last winter, the blacksmith shop was a little too cold to work in, even with the forge running constantly. Mark decided to build a wood stove for supplemental heat. Most people buy, Mark builds.

In progress...

with decorative details.
He's currently working on a wall sculpture
for a gallery show in Washington...
details are vague, but I see textured lattice being formed

and leaves
and flowers being forged...
this is going to be cool!

Nice! I used to date a blacksmith, still have a couple pieces of his handiwork and remember his calico cat that somehow stayed white in the middle of all that black!

It's funny that yesterday I was reading in the New York Times (we get a supplement with the Sunday newspaper here in the UK) how people are going back to real things. and this is a classic example. I'm sure that Mark feels prouder of the result of his hard work than of a product bought in a local shop. Beautiful. Many thanks.

Greetings from London.

Thanks for a look inside his workshop - would love to see how the lattice, leaves and flowers all come together!

Always fun to see the shop of an artist...you can feel their visions by the bits and pieces setting around.

He looks very organized too...what a lucky girl you are!!!

I always loved the sound of the forge when the farrier..or blacksmith would come to do the horses shoes. What a creative guy your husband is...love those flowers and the wood stove is fabulous...decorative on top of being functional!

I love Mark's workshop--and his work is so beautiful! The stove detail makes something so functional so magical.
