Trends/revival

I'm not much into following the latest trends, (mid-century items are certainly hot right now) but I do admire good design and craftmanship, both of which Jerome and Evelyn Ackerman produced over their 50 year career.

Masters of Mid-Century California Modernism
This exhibit opens March 29th at the Mingei International Museum
San Diego, California

Some of my favorites from the collection

Mosaic table top

Ceramic vessels

Door pulls with brass & vermillion agate inlays

photos-Steve Oliver

and more photos from their amazing home here

Anything catch your eye?

I loved those ceramic vessels. Just my type of pottery, really. Soft curves and colour contrast. I love a good contrast in a piece of art. These are beautiful. Many thanks.

Greetings from London.

What I love the most is the passion that two artists still have after all the years...that is priceless!

Oh, my. The ceramic vessels and the doorpulls would go so well in my home. I'll take a full set. :)

Yes, specifically they caught my eye. How wonderful to still be so obviously in love after so much time :) Clearly that love goes into their collection. Beautiful!

I love their sense of design, but even more so, I love there shared passion, vision and devotion to one another. Wishing I could go see the show, it sounds fabulous!

The designs and mosaics are beautiful but the most inspiring is the photo of their love after all these years of being together..priceless.

Wow, thanks for sharing that link. Lots to spend time looking at....love that stained glass, the rocking horse bike, several paintings, the miniatures collections...how fun it would be just to tour the house with lots of time to spend.

Reminds me of a visit to Taliesin West that Mike and I did...I swear I could feel the auras of the beat artists there...

I have to say what caught my eye the most is the two of them! Her hair in the before pic is fantastic (ponders another big chop) and their longevity is just awesome. In other breaking news, the door pulls are definitely me.

We were looking at buying a mid-century modern house in Palm Springs before we bought our house in the high desert. I think they are cool-looking. Those ceramic vessels are awesome!
